Just saw this post about IDEO's HCD Connect. A collection of tools and tips to help master human centred design. Could be good for anyone working with not-for-profits who want to do HCD but don't have the $ for a large scale engagement. 

Here's a shout out for Steve Portigal's workshop on interview techniques and user research at UX 12 Australia! It sounds like it'll be a really interesting and worthwhile learning experience for those in service design too.
